The inquisitive feline was being cared for at a Flintshire animal sanctuary after she was spotted by the truck driver and handed in to the local veterinary surgery.

Her owners heard about her epic journey after media reports and were tearfully reunited on Monday.

Sheila Stewart from Capricorn Animal Sanctuary cared for the cat while she looked for her family.

She said a number of animals are not as lucky as Misty and never find their way back home.

"It is so good to have a happy ending - I am very relieved.

"In the whole of this year we have only found the owners of four cats so it is quite rare.

"The cat belongs to a little girl, I have spoken to her mum and she said the family had all been extremely worried.

"If she had been chipped or had a collar with a phone number on it then it would have been a lot easier," she said.

It is believed Misty hitched a lift in the lorry when the driver of the vehicle stopped in Menai Bridge on his way back down to London.

Ms Stewart said cats are nosy animals and naturally inquisitive.

She said they like warm places and often jump into strangers cars or get locked in garages.
