I caught the last train home back to Lewes last night having taken part in the Iraq debate in Parliament.

Being middle-aged and clapped out, I shall retire gracefully and enjoy an evening at home

It was an early start this morning with a business breakfast in my constituency, then across on the train to the conference for the organ donation debate.

That is the down side of having a constituency close to the conference, you are always on the train.

However, Evan Harris (party health spokesman) and I managed successfully to get a motion approved for organ donation to move to an opt out system rather than an opt in one.

Party time

This means that unless people have registered their wish not to give their organs for transplant, it will be presumed that they have consented.

It will be a long day for some of my colleagues as tonight the Lib Dems let their hair down at the Glee Club.

Iraq is likely to dominate Charles Kennedy's speech

Being middle-aged and clapped out, I shall retire gracefully and enjoy an evening at home.

In the meantime I have been working with my researcher on a speech to conference about ID cards.

I have also had a business lunch with the number two at the American embassy to talk about Iraq and international matters.

Tomorrow I will be eagerly listening to Charles Kennedy's speech.
