Accident and Emergency wards are treating more children for binge-drinking than ever before, according to research carried out by the BBC Six O'Clock News.
The BBC spoke to 51 A&E departments across the UK. Seventy-three percent said that the number of under-18s treated for alcohol-related illness had gone up in the last five years.
One hospital said that it sees nearly 100 children a week during school holidays.
The news comes as councils struggle to crack down on traders who illegally sell alcohol to teenagers.
In Oxford and Flintshire, police and council officials plan to introduce identity cards for teenagers in order to combat the problem.
