Ferguson: "Ole will stay"

Striker Solskjaer - staying put
News image
Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson is insisting that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is staying at Old Trafford.

Tottenham announced on Friday that they had agreed a fee of 5.5m with United for the Norwegian striker and added that White Hart Lane chairman Alan Sugar would be meeting with the player later this week to discuss personal terms.

But Ferguson said: "Ole is going nowhere. He is not for sale and I'm happy he is staying here."

Alex Ferguson - confident that Solskjaer will remain at Old Trafford
It was thought that Solskjaer was reluctant to head south and, despite spending 12.6million on Dwight Yorke last week, Ferguson was not keen for him to leave.

Solskjaer will be in United's squad which flies out to Poland tomorrow for the Champions' League game against LKS Lodz.

Jaap Stam is fit and will face LKS Lodz in Wednesday's match.

The Dutch defender missed Saturday's game at West Ham with a slight thigh strain but has recovered and trained this morning.

But Gary Neville is out for a month after straining a hamstring at Upton Park.

He will also miss England's European Championship qualifier against Sweden on September 5.

Neville's younger brother Philip is set to start for United in Poland with Denis Irwin switching from left-back to right.
