The first wife of England legend Bobby Moore is to sell his treasured medals and trophies in a �2m deal.

Items in the sale will include the England skipper's 1966 World Cup winner's medal, his solid gold Player of Players trophy from the tournament and international caps from his 108 England appearances.

The news came as it emerged that England hero George Cohen is to sell his prized England World Cup winner's medal.

His medal will go under the hammer in Glasgow, in June, and is expected to set a world record at auction, with its value estimated at between �60,000 and �80,000.

Tina Moore, 54, who was married to Bobby for 21 years, is reported to be planning a huge auction which may be televised and will be timed to coincide with the build-up to this summer's World Cup in France.

She is planning the sell-off to secure the financial future for herself and children Dean, 29, and Roberta, 32.

The collection also includes his BBC Sports Personality of the Year trophy and a silver tray, presented by the FA, decorated with the flags of every country he played against.

But a friend of Tina said she would be distraught when the moment finally comes to part with the winner's medal Bobby got at Wembley 32 years ago.

"Parting with those trophies - particularly his World Cup medal - will hurt her deeply," she told The Sun newspaper.

"It will be like losing another piece of Bobby," she added.

But friends of the family are reported to have said the sell-off had been discussed for some time.

One said: "I'm not sure whether Tina is short of cash but I know she has discussed staging some kind of auction."

Bobby left Tina in 1983 to wed his second wife, Stephanie, but left Tina everything. He died of cancer in 1993, aged 51.

Tina now lives alone in Palm Beach, Florida, and has employed a top New York advertising and public relations company to manage the deal.
