"There is no doubt in my mind now that Teddy could play a part for England," said Keegan.

"I couldn't pick him earlier because he was not playing regularly. But he is definitely in my thoughts because of the way he is playing for his club."

Sheringham's opportunities at United have been restricted this season due to the prolific strike partnership forged by Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke.

Lee agrees to stay

Wolves manager Colin Lee has agreed to continue working at Molineux following lengthy talks with the club.

Lee and assistant John Ward were asked to stay on earlier this month agfter temporary contracts expired at the end of the season.

"I have never had any serious doubts about taking the job," said Lee.

"I just wanted everyone to be agreed that we didn't have many players and no money."

Leeds to buy Bakke

Premiership clubs considering bidding for Sunderland left-back Michael Gray have been told he is not for sale.

Manager Peter Reid spoke out after Aston Villa were linked with the 24-year-old, who made his England debut in the recent friendly in Hungary.

"I do not feel I need to comment on pure speculation. I'm going to say this for the last time - Michael Gray is going nowhere," said Reid.

"He has just broken into the England squad, he is a home-town boy and this club is now in the Premiership. I cannot understand why he would want to move on or why we would want to sell him."
