| Tuesday, 4 July, 2000, 03:59 GMT 04:59 UK Botha promises boxing boost ![]() Lennox Lewis and Frans Botha clash on 15 July Frans Botha has arrived in Britain promising boxing fans value for money when he steps out against Lennox Lewis at the London Arena. Botha admitted the sport needed a boost, following Mike Tyson's farcical 38-second win over Lou Savarese at Hampden Park last month. "I think they deserve a better fight than 30 seconds and we're surely going to do that," Botha said.
Botha, who lasted five rounds against Tyson last year, said: "I expect a harder fight against Lewis. "Mike Tyson was really an easy fight. For five rounds I was winning and it was so easy.
"But Lennox is a different style. Mike is very predictable, that's why it was so easy for me, but I think Lennox has a different style and is going to make it a lot more difficult." Botha, who has registered 25 knockouts in his 40 wins against two losses and one draw, nevertheless believes that he can cause an upset. "I'm in tremendous shape and my power is still increasing so much," he said. "I know that once one of my punches land, I'm really going to hurt him." |
