Mike Tyson - ready to resume his ring career
News image
South African Francois Botha has emerged as the new favourite to be Mike Tyson's opponent when the former world heavyweight boxing champion makes his ring comeback.

Tyson has not fought since biting Evander Holyfield's ears during a fight 15 months ago but has been given his licence back by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

Botha: Victory over Tyson would be a major surprise
He is reported to have signed a contract to face Botha in Las Vegas on January 16 with promoters, America Presents.

Botha is currently the number one contender for Holyfield's IBF crown, a title he formerly held, and has lost only once in 37 fights.

The Sun and The Independent newspapers claim his interests are currently being looked after by British promoter Frank Warren.

Germany's Axel Schulz was originally pencilled in to face Tyson, but that fight was blocked by the US TV company, Showtime.
