Galashiels health centre patients are being warned of works ahead |
Patients at Galashiels Health Centre are being warned of disruption as work on a 2.5m extension continues. The centre is undergoing a major refurbishment - and the practices will be moving to the newly-built section while the old part is upgraded.
The worst of the upheaval is likely to take place in the week beginning 12 June, but could last about three weeks.
Work on the health centre revamp is on schedule and is due to be completed by January next year.
NHS Borders primary care modernisation manager Warwick Shaw promised patients the disruption would be worth it in the long term.
'Heavily committed'
"The new health centre will be over twice the floor area of the old building and will offer an improved environment for public, patients and staff," he said.
Improved clinical facilities and an expansion of existing services are also promised.
"Staff, contractors and the public have been very generous and co-operative about the inconvenience so far," said Mr Shaw.
"We would ask that patients note this very busy final period and bear with staff who will be very heavily committed not just to their care but also to settling in to the new accommodation."
