The man who died in a motorcycle crash on the A90 north of Edinburgh was the son-in-law of Dundee United FC chairman Eddie Thomson, it has been revealed.

Ken Mitchell, 38, died after losing control of his Harley Davidson bike on a bend close to the M9 underpass near Dalmeny at 0830 BST on Sunday.

His wife Justine, an Edinburgh lawyer, has been helping to run Dundee United, while her father battles cancer.

The couple, who have a one-year-old son, were married in April 2004.

Mr Mitchell owned an executive recruitment agency.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the fatal collision.

Steven Thomson, brother-in-law to Mr Mitchell, said the family were "devastated" by the death.

He said: "He was their whole life and had so much to live for, and so much left to give."
