It may not look like it, but this is a wee bit of history.

It's believed to be the first certificate of lifelong education in training anywhere in the world.

It lists not just the subjects you've got this year, but every Scottish Qualification you've passed.

At the top - your name and candidate number: straightforward enough, but worth checking.

Then the first of the new qualifications put in an appearance: if you've got one of the new Scottish Group Awards, it'll say so here.

Then come the courses: familiar names like Highers and Standard Grades - but also the new levels in between:

• Intermediate 2

• Intermediate 1

• Access.

This year's results are in bold - and below them in lighter type are passes from previous years.

And it's not finished yet: here's your core skills profile.

So if you want to convince a college or prospective employer that you're great at problem solving or working with other people, this should prove it.

Then - last but not least - your national units.

In most cases these'll be the ones you've passed on the way to your Highers or Intermediates. So even if you've failed the final course exam, the units you've achieved will still be listed.

And that's the bottom line of the new system: even if you're not among the highest performers, you'll get credit for everything you have achieved.
