Alistair Wilson was gunned down on his doorstep

Northern Constabulary confirmed that the person who earlier phoned Crimestoppers about the killing of Alistair Wilson rang back this week.

The caller is now being urged to contact the detective leading the hunt.

Detective Chief Inspector Peter Macphee said: "I feel this person can tell me more."

The second call was cut short and due to the confidential nature of Crimestoppers, Mr Macphee does not even know if the caller is male or female.

He added: "The person who previously called Crimestoppers has responded to my initial appeal and phoned in to Crimestoppers again.

"This person has been able to provide further information which is of great interest to me.

"I would urge them to phone me personally at the incident room at Nairn on 01667 452 222.

"I know that the caller to Crimestoppers appeared very anxious to the operator.

"I want to assure the person that they can talk to me in complete confidence.

"They may hold information that is crucial to this investigation and it is extremely important that they get in touch with me."

Mr Wilson, 30, was gunned down at point-blank range on November 28 at his home on Crescent Road in Nairn.

'Torn apart'

The suspect was described as being aged 35 to 40 and was wearing a baseball cap and a dark blouson jacket.

Detectives last week confirmed that a handgun found in a drain near the scene was the murder weapon.

Police are following up on a number of calls after the case featured on the BBC's Crimewatch programme last week.

Crimestoppers has offered a �10,000 reward for anyone with information leading to the capture of the killer.
