The speed camera detected 2,100 drivers in three weeks |
Police have issued a warning to motorists after a single speed camera caught 100 speeders a day during a three-week crackdown on the A77. More than 2,100 people were clocked at the junction with Galston Road in Ayrshire over three weeks.
One driver was caught travelling at 98mph, while another was doing 92mph in a temporary 40mph zone.
Chief Inspector Bob Harbour said: "We are warning motorists they will be caught if they speed on the A77."
He said officers would "redouble their efforts" to catch motorists breaking the law, and described the levels of speeding as "scandalous".
Strathclyde Police targeted the road from Glasgow to Ayrshire between 18 May and 9 June.
The figures were released by the Strathclyde Safety Camera Partnership.
