GENERAL RULES FOR BBC AUDIOCALL COMPETITIONS

1. Competitions shall be open to all residents of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands and Isle of Man except employees of the BBC, BBC Worldwide, or any of their Subsidiaries, of the telephone companies providing lines and equipment for the use in the competition, and of any independent production company involved in the production of the programme associated with the competition, or any other company connected with the administration of the competition together with members of their families.

2. All entry instructions given are deemed to form part of the rules of the competition to which they relate.

3. An entrant may only win one prize in each competition irrespective of the number of entries submitted. No cash alternative will be offered instead of a specified prize.

4. Entrants shall be entitled to make as many entries as they may wish.

5. Entries must be received by the time stated on the programme and shall be valid only if received over the telephone on the number announced during the course of the programme and in the manner requested.

6. The prize will go to the first person whose entry is selected at random from the correct entries received and who is available when contacted by BBC Audiocall or the programme. When computerised recognition systems are used to handle calls, entrants accept that only those entries that are recognised as being correct by the computer equipment used in connection with any competition shall be put forward for the purposes of random selection of a winner.

7. Should it be necessary, in order to select an outright winner or winners, BBC Audiocall reserves the right to run an eliminating contest or tie-breaker whether previously stated or not.

8. In the event of there being restriction or qualification as to age, the age of the entrants on the closing day of the competition in question will apply.

9. Where the prize involves in whole or in part a holiday or travel away from home, BBC Audiocall reserves the right to request written permission from the parent or guardian of a winner who is under the age of eighteen years.

10. The winner or winners will be announced on air, or published by other means.

11. A list of major winners, together with the competition solution (where applicable) and the winning tie-breaker (where applicable) will be sent to anyone who writes to the competition address enclosing a stamped addressed envelope within four weeks after the published closing date.

12. BBC Audiocall cannot take responsibility and shall not be liable for any problems that callers may encounter in getting their calls through whether arising as a result of an act or omission by any member of BBC Audiocall staff, failure of connection or otherwise. BBC Audiocall cannot accept responsibility for any problems, proven or otherwise, that may have occurred with the telephone network, whether British Telecom's network, Mercury's network, Vodaphone's network or any other network during the entry period of any competition.

13. Any entry made giving another persons name will be disqualified.

14. Winners must be available to take up the prize offered within three months. If the winner is unable to take up the prize, BBC Audiocall reserves the right to award the prize to another winner, in which case, the first winner chosen will not be eligible for any share of the prize whatsoever.

15. Failure to comply with any of these rules will disqualify any entry from taking part in the competition concerned. BBC Audiocall reserves the right to disqualify any entry at its absolute discretion.

16. BBC Audiocall's decision is final in all matters concerning a competition and no correspondence can be entered into.

17. It is a condition of entry to all competitions that any entrant agrees to be bound by these rules whether they are published at the time that the competition is announced or not.

18. Entrants grant all necessary permission to the programme maker for the inclusion of their contribution in the programme.
