NHS performance by hospital trust
Some trusts performed badly on waiting times for treatment
The NHS performance figures for England published on Wednesday show that although waiting lists may be shrinking, waiting times are going up.
The figures for NHS trusts in England for 1997-98 show that more hospitals' performance declined compared to last year than those that improved.
They show that more hospitals failed to cut times for everything from sitting in the waiting room to receiving an operation than those that succeeded.
The national tables showed that:
- For the percentage of outpatients seen within 13 weeks of referral by GP: Performance declined at 79 trusts, improved at 31.
- For the percentage of outpatients seen within 26 weeks of referral by GP: Performance declined at 16 trusts, improved at seven.
- For the percentage of patients seen within 30 minutes of outpatient appointment: Performance declined at 28 trusts, improved at 23;
- For the percentage of patients admitted within three months of decision to operate: Performance declined at 65 trusts, improved at 25.
- For the percentage of patients admitted within 12 months of decision to operate: Performance declined at 33 trusts, improved at 14.
