Rio Ferdinand
He has been criticised for his occasional lapses in concentration but would slot into the back five superbly if Keegan chooses to play with wing-backs, and may one day go on to become England's sweeper. Ferdinand began his career with West Ham as a trainee and has been the subject of big money transfer speculation, with a host of top European clubs impressed by some assured displays at Upton Park. He has always delivered the goods when given the chance at international level but he may be forced to sit on the bench by Kevin Keegan until Tony Adams finally decides to retire. Ferdinand made his international debut in the 2-0 victory over Cameroon. |
