Elvis is till known as the King of rock and roll |
US television network CBS is holding open auditions to find an actor to play Elvis Presley in a mini-series. The casting call will be held on 10 November at the CBS Television City studio complex in Los Angeles.
The Elvis wannabes should be prepared to sing 10 bars of any of the King's songs, the network said.
No broadcast date has been set for the four-hour miniseries, which will go into production early next year in cooperation with the singer's estate.
Although the audition call is open to anyone, a CBS spokeswoman said the network had not necessarily settled on casting an unknown for the title role.
Poverty
"If we get an unknown, that's great," she said.
Born in East Tupelo, Mississippi, Presley grew up in poverty and his music skills emerged after moving to Memphis, Tennessee, at the age of 13.
By 1956, in his early 20s, he had a recording contract with RCA and a movie deal with Paramount Pictures.

That year he had four number one singles. He resumed his film career following time in the Army but disappeared from the pop charts while bands such as the Beatles and the Rolling Stones enjoyed success.
He made a comeback in 1968 and returned to live performances over the next several years.
But his dependence on stimulants and depressants led to his death in 1977 at the age of 42.
