| Tuesday, 1 January, 2002, 11:09 GMT Orbison's widow sues film makers ![]() Roy Orbison had many hits including Oh, Pretty Woman The widow of music legend Roy Orbison has launched a $10m (�6.8m) lawsuit against two US documentary makers. Barbara Orbison claims three companies run by Barbara and Gregory Hall owe her money and that they "misrepresented" their relationships with television networks. Orbison states the couple owe her $42,500 (�29,000) for her cooperation with two documentaries and an anthology of live performances by the late music star. Orbison died at the age of 52 in 1988 and was considered a pioneer of country and pop-based rock and roll. He was famed for his hits Oh, Pretty Woman and Only The Lonely. The anthology and one of the documentaries made by the Halls' production companies have been shown on US television. Now Orbison is trying to stop them showing a third documentary. Attorney Sam Lipshie, who represents Barbara Orbison Productions, said: "We want them to stop exploiting the documentary and terminate all their rights to license the documentary." Hits Roy Orbison was born in Texas in 1936. After many years of playing with various bands he scored his first international hit with Only The Lonely in 1960. The ballad went to number one in the Britain, staying in the charts for over six months.
He made a comeback in the late 1980s as a member of the super group The Travelling Wilburys. Orbison played alongside Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, Jeff Lynne and George Harrison.
