Gaffney enters TV jungle contest
Dean Gaffney
In EastEnders, Gaffney played a market cleaner who moved to India
Former EastEnders star Dean Gaffney has joined I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! after being voted in by viewers to the ITV1 reality series.

The 28-year-old, who was Robbie Jackson in the soap, was forced to take part in a task involving cockroaches before he could meet the other contestants.

He collected nine stars - which were converted into meals - but had to fight through boxes of insects and rats.

The celebrities are in the Australian jungle for the show's sixth series.

Gaffney, who beat ex-Emmerdale actress Malandra Burrows in the poll, said joining the programme was "surreal".

He added he was "overwhelmed" following his task, during which he had screamed: "Oh please, oh please, it's rats!"

He has been installed as the third favourite to win with bookmaker William Hill, behind Jason Donovan and new favourite Myleene Klass, who was previously a singer with pop group Hear'Say.
