Three Lions to roar no more
As soon as England crashed out the Lightning Seeds slipped
The song which became England's favourite World Cup anthem is unlikely to be heard live again.
Sounding despondent, the Lightning Seeds star Ian Broudie says he doubts he will ever play the number one hit Three Lions again.
Three Lions topped the charts for three weeks during the France 98 campaign before England crashed out of the tournament.
The song was last performed to crowds at the Glastonbury Festival in June.
"We re-wrote it especially for the World Cup and at Glastonbury everyone was going for it in the rain and it was a really great moment, but it's time to move on creatively now," Ian Broudie told NME magazine.
"We won't be playing it on our next tour. I don't think we'll ever play it again, that's how I feel about it. Everyone feels as down as me about it all," he added.
Three Lions was originally written for the Euro '96 competition.
Becasue of its massive popularity it was updated to compete with this year's FA approved song, On Top Of The World by England United.
