Jane Tomlinson received an MBE for her charity work |
Charity fund raiser Jane Tomlinson has broken her ankle during her first run after four months of chemotherapy. Mrs Tomlinson, who has terminal cancer, slipped off a kerb on Wednesday near her home in Rothwell in Leeds.
The 41-year-old, who has three children, will have to spend five weeks with her ankle in plaster and will miss triathlons in Salford and London.
She had hoped these events would raise 200,000 to add to the 1m she has already raised for cancer charities.
"Jane went for her first training run on Wednesday night with her running club. She ran five miles quite easily and felt quite comfortable," her husband Mike explained.

"She slipped off the kerb and on to her ankle."
But she insists it is only a temporary setback and still has ambitions of taking part in the Great North Run in September.
"It will be hard for her to get back and train for the Great North Run. There is still a question mark over whether she will or not," Mr Tomlinson said.
"She is frustrated as she works so hard to keep herself fit and active while undergoing the treatment.
