Two students are attempting to climb a record-breaking five peaks a day to raise money for charity. Duncan Hassall from Yarm, Cleveland, and Andy Stinson from Merseyside, are aiming to climb 28 of Britain's highest mountains before Thursday.
The pair, who study civil engineering at Newcastle University, have been in training for weeks.
They will be raising money for a number of charities, including the Newcastle-based Mad Foundation.
They started their challenge on Sunday, with the aim of climbing more than five mountains per day - a feat which they believe has never been attempted before.
Duncan said: "It struck us as completely nuts at first - but once we had told all our friends and family about the idea, they were really enthusiastic and we thought we just had to go ahead and do it."
They will climb mountains in Scotland's Cairngorms, the Lake District and Wales.
