Pumps upgraded for water supplies
Severn Trent has announced it is spending 900,000 to improve its water supplies in Staffordshire.

The cash is being used to upgrade pumps at reservoirs serving Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme.

Defunct pumps and tanks will be replaced at Coopers Green and at the Foxley pumping station.

A spokesman said the old pumps had been in place for 50 years and were becoming increasingly unreliable. The work should be complete by spring next year.
