Over 300,000 are expected to visit the beach on Saturday |
Safety officials have been drafted in to help cope with the estimated 300,000 beach goers attending Brighton and Hove's Gay Pride weekend. Seafront office staff, traders, police and extra lifeguards will help deal with the influx of people who may get into difficulties on the beach.
The safety team will look out for people in the sea and help reunite lost children with their families.
A Brighton council spokeswoman said everyone has to help with safety.
Weaver fish danger
She said: "It is great to see the wonderful summer weather and so many people enjoying the city's vibrant seafront.
"It is imperative though that they do so with a bit of care.
"We are asking everyone to do their bit to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all, over what is expected to be a very busy weekend."
In the past week lifeguards have saved a woman who was resuscitated at Hove and an unconscious pier jumper who was found floating in the sea.
They have also treated over 50 people who were stung by the possibly life-threatening weaver fish as they walked bare foot in the water at low tide.
