Council lines up smoking ban
Proposals have been drawn-up to ban smoking in leisure centre bars and council offices in Mansfield.

The plan, to be considered on Monday, would mean closing the civic centre's smoking room.

The authority has been under pressure to set an example as a community leader on the issue.

Smoking is already banned in most parts of the Civic Centre, but the proposals would extend it to bars and all areas used by councillors.

There would also be a ban on smoking in council vehicles.

It is more than four years since the district council reviewed its no-smoking policy.

A report into the changes says they should not cause a great deal of disruption as there is already a ban in the majority of council venues.
