Race row officer resigns
Greater Manchester Police badge
Five officers have now resigned from GMP
A police constable from Stockport who was suspended from duty after appearing on the BBC documentary, Secret Policeman, has resigned from Greater Manchester Police.

He's the fifth GMP officer to step down since the screening of the undercover documentary last month.

The programme showed secretly filmed footage of trainee policeman making racist remarks.

All the officers from Greater Manchester Police who were investigated following its broadcast have now left the force.

"Decisive action"

Two other officers have resigned - one from North Wales and the other from Cheshire police.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "Following the screening we took decisive action against all the officers who appeared on the programme and made inappropriate remarks.

"None of these officers now remain in the police service.

"Greater Manchester Police remains resolute in its determination to eradicate racism from within the force."

On Tuesday it was revealed that BBC reporter Mark Daly will not face charges.

The Crown Prosecution Service said it had advised Greater Manchester Police there was insufficient evidence to take action for alleged deception.
