Christmas ice rink is frozen out
Business leaders have said Lincoln's temporary ice rink will not return this winter because of rising costs.

A temporary rink has been set up in the city centre for the past two years funded by city centre firms.

Matt Corrigan, chief executive of the city's Business Improvement Group, said poor trading conditions for ice rink companies had forced prices up by 30%.

He said the rink would be replaced by a Ferris wheel, which would be a focal point for festive celebrations.

"We were really pleased with the way the rink operated but the cost has gone up.

"Nationally, last year, several ice rink companies traded less well, which meant that costs were significantly higher and we thought it was a good chance to try something different," Mr Corrigan said.

The Business Improvement Group is an independent organisation funded by businesses rate payers in the city centre.
