Officers represent force at Pride
Officers from West Mercia Constabulary will be at the country's biggest free gay and lesbian festival held annually in Birmingham this weekend.

This is the fourth year the police will be represented at the three-day event.

Officers will be ready to talk about recruitment, hate-crime and try to break down any barriers between themselves and the gay community.

Helen Danks, from the force's diversity team, said it was a deliberate act to be more involved in the community.

The weekend launches with a Carnival Parade at 1800 BST on Saturday.

The event will include a street festival, with numerous gay and lesbian stalls, a funfair, street entertainers, a dance tent and mini-stage arenas featuring live acts and DJs.
