Two Labour MPs have given their backing to an anti-war protester who has been sleeping rough outside Parliament. Brian Haw, from Redditch, Worcs, has been protesting over the situation in Iraq for the past three years.
Now Jeremy Corbyn and John McDonnell have tabled a Commons motion backing his right to demonstrate.
Mr Haw has already beaten an attempt by Westminster Council to make him move, but faces possible action by the government over litter.
'Honourable man'
The father-of-seven sleeps under a plastic sheet with his placards.
He began his protest in Parliament Square on 1 June 2001, initially calling for an end to sanctions against Iraq and then later demonstrating about the war.
The MPs - Mr Corbyn who represents Islington and Mr McDonnell who represents Hayes and Harlington - condemned the government's approach in their Commons motion.
Mr Corbyn told BBC Radio Hereford and Worcester: "Mr Haw is a very honest and honourable man who had made a personal commitment. I have a lot of admiration for him."
