Firefighters were concerned about gas cylinders at the site |
More people are being asked to clear their homes after an explosion in a blazing building in Dagenham. Four crews were called 1130 BST when the fire was spotted in derelict wooden buildings in Church Street.
It is thought the explosion was caused by a gas cylinder and a second cylinder is still inside the buildings.
No-one has been injured but 14 people had to leave their homes immediately. The area is expected to stay cordoned off until 1200 BST on Monday.
A London Fire Brigade (LFB) spokesman said the remaining gas cylinder was highly explosive and could send debris around 200m.
He said the cylinder could explode up to 24 hours after being heated.
