Fourth M1 crash victim recovering
A man remains in hospital with serious injuries following a motorway crash in Derbyshire which killed three people.

Two young women and a man died in the accident on the M1 at junction 30 close to the Derbyshire border with South Yorkshire, on Sunday.

Both carriageways were closed to allow the air ambulance to land after the single-vehicle accident.

The southbound lanes reopened shortly afterwards, but the northbound carriageway was closed until 1400 GMT.

On-going investigation

At one stage traffic was queuing for more than six miles.

A spokesman for Derbyshire Police said: "Two young women and a man received fatal injuries.

"Another man received injuries and is being treated at the Chesterfield and Royal Derbyshire Hospital."

Police are still investigating to determine what caused the crash.

"We are particularly keen to trace the occupants of a black 4x4 vehicle that was travelling north at the same time as the collision took place," a police spokesman said.
