Concern over danger fences
Collapsed fence
Vicky Thomas died after the fence collapsed

Concerns are growing about the lack of progress council officials are making with safety checks on park railings.

Vicky Thomas from Osmaston Park Road, Derby, died on 12 May when six-foot cast-iron railings fell on her at Osmaston Park.

Derby City Council insists it has been checking similar railings around the city since the accident.

But Osmaston Community Panel Chairman Ken Whitehead says many railings are still unsafe.

He says some have crumbling concrete and parents are worried about their children's safety.

The Health and Safety are still investigating the original accident.
