Father and son killed in road crash
A father and son from the North East of England have died in an accident near Appleby in Cumbria.

The collision, involving a horse-drawn carriage and a lorry, happened on the A66 near Coupland Beck at 1800 BST on Tuesday.

Roads around Appleby have been busy after the annual Horse Fair which ended on Monday.

The A66 remained closed on Tuesday night with police at the scene.

Cumbria Police said the older man was in his 40s, but officers have been unable to say how old his son was.

The father and son are thought to be from the travelling community.
