Benefits of real nappies highlighted

The benefits of using real nappies are being explained to parents in Cornwall this week.

Several "nappaccino mornings" are being held in Liskeard, Looe, Saltash, Torpoint and Callington.

The council says real nappies help save parents money.

They also say they are more environmentally-friendly.

Telephone boxes blown up

Police in Torpoint are hunting those responsible for blowing up a number of telephone kiosks in the town.

Officers say it is amazing that no one has been hurt or killed in the incidents.

One blast totally wrecked the kiosk by the town's ferry lanes.

Detective Constable John Nolan said whoever did it was utterly reckless.

Tourist park plans approved

A five-year plan to upgrade one of south east Cornwall's best known tourist parks has been approved.

Killigarth Holiday Centre, near Polperro, has been given the go-ahead to replace 98 caravans with 96 new lodges on the site, which is in an area of outstanding natural beauty.

Caradon District Council's planning committee supported the multi-million pound development.

But it has imposed conditions, including landscaping to improve the appearance of the sensitive site.

Number 10's tree will be Cornish this Christmas

A Christmas tree grower from south east Cornwall will be providing Number 10 with its festive tree this year.

Ivor Dungey, from Lanreath, near Looe, won a national competition to provide Downing Street with a tree.

He beat off competition from 20 other growers across the country.
