A 15-year-old boy has died four days after being sent to a secure youth training centre. Gareth Paul Myatt, of Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, died on Monday night, the Youth Justice Board confirmed.
He began 12 months' detention for assault and theft at Rainsbrook Secure Training Centre near Daventry, Northamptonshire, on Friday.
A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out and police are investigating his death.
An ambulance was called to the centre after Gareth reportedly lost consciousness.
He was pronounced dead at Walsgrave Hospital in Coventry.
The privately-run Rainsbrook Centre houses 76 youngsters aged from 12 to 17, most of whom have been convicted of serious crimes.
