Winds gusted as high as 82mph in the West |
A driver had a lucky escape when a tree came down during Saturday's high winds. The woman was travelling from Box towards Corsham in Wiltshire at 1830 GMT when high winds blew the tree down right in front of her.
She braked, but the car ended up on top of the fallen tree, with all four wheels off the ground.
The A4 was closed for three hours while emergency services removed the car and the tree from the road. The driver escaped unhurt.
Cardiff Weather Centre said the highest winds on Saturday in the West were 74mph, recorded at Filton Airfield, near Bristol.

A brigade spokesman said 30 of these were about fallen trees, the rest were damaged property.
Some residents in Portbury, North Somerset, lost power for more than an hour.
