Widower's appeal for stolen footage
A widower has appealed for the return of film of his deceased wife which was stolen from his home in Sussex.

Martin Ong, from Winston, near Steyning, said he is distraught at the loss of the 20 mini-DV cassettes because they were the only footage he had of his wife who died three years ago.

Burglars broke into Mr Ong's house in Spithandle Lane, twice in the space of two weeks.

As well as the tapes, they stole a video camera, personal organiser, mountain bike, jewellery and a watch which featured a digital camera.

'Property can be replaced'

They also took a 19th Century cavalry sabre with basket hilt in a metal scabbard.

On Wednesday Mr Ong asked the burglars to return the cassettes.

He said: "Property can in the end be replaced but I can't replace memories.

"I am appealing directly to whoever took the cassettes to search their consciences and to return them."

Anyone with information about the burglaries should contact Sussex Police.
