Extra funding for childcare
Children in childcare
New places will be created for children
Almost 1m is to be spent creating 1,700 childcare places throughout the East Midlands.

The money will be used to fund before and after school clubs, as well as holiday groups.

The purpose of the $955,000 government is to allow parents and carers the chance to return to work, education or training.

Most of the grant will be spent in Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire.

It is hoped about 150 jobs will be created by the expansion.

A report published this month claimed there are only eight day nursery places for each 100 children under the age of five in the UK.

This was limiting work opportunities for many mothers, the Institute for Fiscal Studies report found.
