A retired engineer from Suffolk who is building do-it-yourself sea defences says he will fight planners if they try to block his scheme. Council officials want to stop Peter Boggis' project at Easton Bavents near Southwold, Suffolk, until he applies for planning permission.
But Mr Boggis, 72, who lives 100 yards from a cliff which has rapidly eroded, said on Wednesday he would fight moves to stop the work.
"I am disgusted to have to fight Waveney District Council as well as the sea," he said.

"If they can prove to me that I need planning permission then I will apply but I don't think I do."
Members of Waveney District Council's planning committee are expected to make a decision on a recommendation by officers next week.
Mr Boggis is underwriting the work - which he says will safeguard 10 properties and Southwold itself - at a cost of more than �50,000.
The first stage of the project involves bringing in 24,000 tonnes of clay to shore up the beach.
The Environment Agency and Waveney District Council are responsible for the affected stretch of coastline.
An Environment Agency spokeswoman said last week that Mr Boggis had the right to protect his property, and it was monitoring his work.
