Bus fares cut to attract passengers
Bus stop road markings
Fares for pensioners and children will be 15p
Bus fares in Beverley are being more than halved in a bid to attract extra passengers.

From Sunday, Acklam's Coaches and East Yorkshire Motor Services (EYMS) will charge a 30p flat fare for any journey within the town.

EYMPS usually charges 65p

The experiment is being funded by East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

Nigel Rowe from the council said they want to see if cutting fares will put "more bottoms on seats".

He added: "Our aim is to get people to give the bus a try and leave the car at home for one or two journeys."
