Record summer temperatures have failed to warm up profits at food producer Northern Foods as interim profits suffered a 16% slump to 32.5m. Lukewarm results follow a profits warning issued by the company in September after the heatwave hit brand sales of non-chilled foods.
Chairman Peter Blackburn described the performance as "unacceptable" and said urgent action was being taken.
Among possible measures would be the sale of non-core brands, it said.
